What to expect
The CRA provides a great day of family friendly entertainment, with on track excitement and thrills provided by our experienced racers competing in multiple classes and events. Come watch the Featherweight class with riders going bar to bar the entire race, the Unlimited bikes with 150-200 hp rocketing down the straights, and the intense battles that always occur in our Middleweight and Heavyweight classes. There are many great places to watch the racing from around the course at BIR, and afterwards come meet some of the racers as they wind down from an intense day of competition. If you are lucky, you may even get to see one of our after hours pit bike races, with racers in full gear competing on a small course with various mopeds, scooters and pit bikes in a frantic and hilarious competition, with bragging rights on the line.

We Need You!
It takes more than 100 volunteers to staff a CRA race weekend! Our volunteers receive complimentary admission, camping, lunches, a t-shirt and also earn points towards worker service awards. Did we mention the best seat in the house as well? You can’t get any closer to the action than standing on the edge of the race track! There are dozens of different volunteer positions that you can sign up for. Below is a description of our most popular volunteer opportunities. For a more detailed list of all positions available, download the CRA Worker Brochure.

What do you get out of it?
The CRA rewards our volunteers with Perks and Points!
Earn points for every hour you volunteer!

That means if you corner work all weekend (Friday–Sunday), you can rack up 24+ points in just one event!
💼 Some roles with added responsibilities earn bonus points — check with your specialty chief to learn more about the updated earning structure.
What do you get out of it?

Lots of ways to join in
There are many different ways to volunteer with the CRA. Check out our various roles
Flagging and Communications

Flagging & Communications (Corner Working)
Flagging & Communications, otherwise known as ``F&C`` for short, is the largest and most visible specialty at a race event. Individuals staffing this specialty are commonly referred to as ``corner workers``, (or Corner Marshals in some organizations) and they relay information about track conditions or hazards to the racers during a race. In constant contact with Race Control, they know what is going on all around the track at all times. Not for the faint of heart, but it does offer great excitement! The CRA Corner Worker Manual is a great resource for information about how to be a corner worker.

Air Fence
Join the Air Fence Crew!
Looking for a hands-on way to help keep riders safe on race weekends? The Air Fence Crew is where the action starts. You’ll work with a small team to set up and tear down 34 safety barriers around Brainerd International Raceway—these are placed in key crash zones to help protect racers. It’s physical work (lifting, dragging, towing), but it only takes a couple of hours Thursday evening before the event and again after the last race on Sunday. One team member needs a vehicle that can tow a trailer with a 2`` hitch, and someone should be available for quick checks each morning before racing starts.
What You’ll Do:
• Set up barriers Thursday evening (6 PM)
• Help with daily safety checks
• Tear everything down after Sunday’s final race
What You’ll Get:
• Free weekend entry for you and a guest
• Lunch Friday–Sunday
• Two worker points for the weekend
Heads up
You’ll coordinate with the Air Fence Lead to sign up prior to signing up for the Air Fence Team
If you’re up for some heavy lifting, enjoy being part of a team, and want to make a real difference in race safety, we’d love to have you onboard!
Tech
Tech Inspection
Love being hands-on with bikes and gear? The Tech Crew helps keep racing safe and fair by checking bikes, rider equipment, and making sure everything meets CRA rules.
What You’ll Do:
- Inspect bikes for safety wiring, belly pans, and rule compliance
- Check and approve new rider gear
- Issue tech and practice stickers
- Work with Stewards on racer eligibility, protests, and incidents
- Perform Supersport inspections (at Pit Zero & Turn 13)
- Staff the Tech Barn & Pit Zero during practice and races
What You’ll Need:
- Knowledge of basic motorcycle race setup for safety (or willingness to learn)
- Attention to detail and comfort with rules enforcement
- Availability during tech hours Friday–Sunday
We’ll show you the ropes! This is a great fit if you enjoy tech, safety, and working closely with riders.
