Paddock Update

Posted: April 27, 2015 by Worker Liaison in Announcements

Effective 5/1/2015 thru 10/1/2015:
Due to pending paddock changes and track property improvements during the 2015 race season, vehicle traffic and parking will be restricted in the Competition Course paddock.  Vehicles and trailers will be allowed in only for loading and unloading purposes, but must be parked outside the paddock during the rest of the race weekend.  Trailers integral to pit space setup are allowed to stay.

NOTE:  Pit vehicles such as bicycles, scooters, and golf carts will be allowed.

Welcome to the 2015 racing season!

Pre-registration opens for the May event weekend:

April 18 at 8AM and will close on May 2 at 8PM

The May event races are sprints (Supersport, Superbike and Grand Prix) and Trophy Dashes (GP1, GP2, GP3 and GP4).  Please refer to the CRA Rulebook for definitions of class/classes to register for.  A great new feature of the CRA Store for online pre-registration this year is that NO COUPON CODE IS REQUIRED, the cart will automatically figure out the multi-sprint discount!

A few reminders about online pre-registration:

  1. 2015 CRA Membership documents and dues must be completed in order to pre-register.  Membership documents and dues payment are available on the CRA Store currently and will remain available throughout the 2015 season.
  2. A current CRA Competition License is required to pre-register (New Riders/Unlicensed Racers may not pre-register).
  3. Access the online store at https://shop.cra-mn.com
  4. New users will need to create an account.  All previous users of the CRA Store accounts are still active. If necessary use the “Forgot Your Password?” link on the login page.
  5. Please do not save orders and reuse them.  Please pick from the options in the cart that are open for the weekend open.  Reusing a previous saved order does not show on the reports used to grid races.
  6. If you have earned a Free Sprint Coupon, please note it with the quantity in the comment section during checkout and Kim and I will take care of it prior to processing your order. You will need to present the coupons to Race Registration prior to receiving wristbands for the event weekend.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Kim or Anna at racereg@cra-mn.com.

Can’t wait to see everyone in a few weeks!

In order to provide a single source of information, we are working with IT to create and maintain a static Contingency page. This page will include links to the forms you’ll need to fill out and print as well as quick access to the vendor’s page listing their requirements and payouts.

This should make it easier for you to find the forms as they are published in a single spot and not having to scroll back multiple pages as with the existing “blog” format.

We expect this to be completed in the next couple weeks. If you have a specific need or comment on this, please send an email to contingency@cra-mn.com.

February 16, 2015

Fort Worth Texas / Minneapolis, Minnesota – The Championship Cup Series in conjunction with the Central Roadracing Association is pleased to announce a cooperative effort to promote and strengthen motorcycle road racing in the Mid-West. With the limited number of available non-conflicting dates at area facilities, the solution was to join forces and work together for the benefit of the racers. This special crossover event will be held during the CRA’s June 12-14 Twin Sprint weekend at Brainerd International Raceway, giving riders from both organizations the most in on-track opportunities.

The action will kick off on Friday with a full day of practice, followed by a round of CRA points paying sprint races on Saturday. Then on Sunday, the CRA sprints will pay CCS Mid-West championship points in addition to CRA series points. With minor rule differences between the organizations, each group will issue official results and series points based on that groups rules and regulations. This insures that both organizations fulfill their obligations to the racers while giving them another great opportunity to compete against each other at a top notch facility.

“This is such a great opportunity for both clubs to work together” said Kevin Elliott President of CCS, “We have been interested in returning to Brainerd for a long time but didn’t want to hurt our relationship with the CRA. We are excited to have this chance to race with the CRA and hopefully expand this program in the future.”

CRA President Troy Pierson added, “We’re very excited for this opportunity to work with CCS to further the sport.  Brainerd International Raceway is a great venue for motorcycles, especially with the recent widening and repaving of the racing surface.  We greatly look forward to welcoming the CCS racers in June and hope for many more in years to come.”

For more information about motorcycle road racing check out the CRA website at www.cra-mn.com or the CCS website at www.ccsracing.us. Let’s go racing!

2015 Rule Changes – 01.25.2015

2015 Membership Mailing

Posted: January 17, 2015 by Membership in Membership

Good Morning!

This morning all membership applications for past year members went into the mail. You should start seeing those in your mailbox in the next couple days. So, between now and then what do you need to know?

  1. This year the Membership Application and Medical Information Forms have been combined into a single downloadable document on the website. Look for the document called “2015 CRA Membership Forms”.
  2. This year the Membership Application has increased to two pages. All members must fill out page one, and only racers need to fill out page two. Make sure you are filling in all the fields so we can process your application promptly!
  3. All members from last year were sent forms. This includes volunteers!! Please fill out your application and send it in! Volunteer membership rules still apply from previous years, and I will hold your application until you earn your first three worker points for the year when at that time I will provide you with a membership packet.
  4. Online Payments AND Online Submissions will be allowed this year! (Huzzah!!) This will all be done through the CRA Store at https://www.cra-mn.com/shop. A couple things of note:
    1. If you pay online AND submit your application at the same time (it gets attached to the item in the store – it’s pretty easy once you see it) – the transaction time is equal to the “postmark” date that is necessary for racers wishing to keep their previous year number.
    2. If you decide to pay online, but do NOT upload your form at the same time and/or physically mail your form, the time that the form is received will be the postmark date. So make sure to take advantage of online submission!
  5. If you are a minor (under 18 years of age) and will be applying for a race license you MUST fill out a Minor Release Form (found under About the CRA > Forms and Documents > Membership Information). This form must be signed AND notorized, and then returned with your application. If you plan to register online please email me and let me know. I will require a hard copy of the signed/notarized Minor Release Form in hand in order to issue you a race license.
  6. When filling in your forms, no matter how you decide to submit your application, PLEASE WRITE LEGIBLY!! This will ensure proper & timely processing of the application, and receipt of important mailings from the CRA.
  7. If you decide to snail mail your application we ask that you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT send cash! If you absolutely have no other method to pay with please contact me to arrange something.
  8. RACERS!!! This is a big change from previous years!!! Garage Stall requests will NOT be part of the Membership Application process going forward. All Garage Stall rentals will be handled by Racer Registration either during pre-registration or at the track. The goal of this is to give control of the process over to the team that handles the majority of the load in this area. Please be patient with us during this transition, and if you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Of course with new procedures come questions, and that is to be expected. Please feel free to contact myself or any one of the other board of director members with your questions and/or concerns.

2014 Election Follow-Up

Posted: December 19, 2014 by Membership in Announcements, Elections

As many of you are aware this year presented an interesting challenge to the CRA in regards to the BoD election. We would like to thank all the candidates who put their name in the hat, and all of those of you whom cast your ballots. After multiple tries, unfortunately, we were still unable to get the necessary amount of votes to have a successful election. Below is an excerpt from the December 2014 CRA Insider that talks a bit about these unusual circumstances.

“Unfortunately, I must report that our third attempt at holding the election for the third seat was essentially a repeat of the original election. A total of 68 ballots were received this time around, establishing that a candidate needed to receive a minimum of 35 votes in order to be elected. There were five candidates that received votes, once again effectively diluting the vote totals such that no candidate received the required 35 votes to be elected. That said, I can report that the voice of the voters was clear in that Stephen Johnson received 41% of the total votes cast, while the next closest candidate received 23%. As the election did not yield an officially elected winner, the Board has chosen to appoint Steve Johnson to serve as an interim Board member until we can hold a successful reelection for the third seat. This is currently being planned to coincide with the May race weekend. Please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns you may have regarding this ongoing strange string of events.”

Along with that here is an official statement regarding the empty director seat that was vacated by Dwayne Stroman when he relocated to California:

“To those that attended the banquet, you heard the announcement of Dwayne Stroman’s resignation from the BoD due to his recent relocation to southern California. As soon as the results from the December 2nd reelection were known, the BoD turned attention towards identifying a suitable replacement. On behalf of the entire Board, it is my pleasure to announce that Anna Hanson has accepted the appointment to serve out the remaining two years of Dwayne Stroman’s term on the CRA BoD.”

As more information about the follow-up election comes to light we will put that information out there.

2014 Awards Follow-up

Posted: November 23, 2014 by President in Announcements, Results

Attention all CRA racers,

It has been brought to our attention that a number of racers received the wrong metal plates for their award plaques at the Banquet.  Several of the Board members investigated the issue and discovered a significant number of errors in the results file that was used to sort the plates into the respective envelopes.

Rather than reordering all new plates (at an significant additional cost to the club), we are requesting that racers return ALL of the metal plates they received for the 2014 season (even if you believe they are correct), so we can start over and ensure we have accounted for all of the plates when we redistribute them properly.  You can return the plates in person to your favorite Board Member, or bring them to the upcoming Membership meeting on 12/2 at the Richfield VFW, or via mail to:

Central Roadracing Association
PO Box 130426
Roseville, MN  55113

If you are unable to return them, please send a message to RacerLiaison@cra-mn.com explaining which plates you are keeping and why you are unable to return them so we can be sure we have accounted for them in our redistribution efforts.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience, we are committed to getting the awards corrected as quickly as we can.  The sooner we can account for all the plates, the sooner we’ll be able to get the proper plates reissued to the appropriate racers.

Sincerely,
CRA Board of Directors
