July Team Challenge Contingency form

Posted: July 17, 2014 by Contingency in Announcements

Procedures for applying for contingency for the Team Challenge race this weekend.

All contingency forms must be turned in to the Contingency mail box before 1st call to grid for the challenge race.  It is the teams responsibility to make sure this is done in time; there are no guarantees as to the availability of Tech or Contingency to certify your forms outside of normal tech hours.

Each bike on the team must run the same tires to qualify for payouts; this is a team effort on a selected brand of tire.  Each bike must be verified for requirements; tires, decals, etc.  Each rider must be verified as well, e.g. Dunlop patch on each team members leathers.

Forms are attached here, and will be available starting Thursday evening at the tech barn.

Cra July New Riders

Posted: July 16, 2014 by Worker Liaison in Racers

July New Riders that did not attend the classroom portion at MotoPrimo this past March must report to the track side classroom at 7am Friday, July 18th.

If you are a ‘want to be’ July New Rider that did attend the classroom this past March, you need to report to the track side classroom at 8:30 am July 18th, however if you would like a complete review of the March classroom you are welcome to come at 7am also.

If you took the New Rider classroom portion either this past March at MotoPrimo or this past May or June at the track and were not able to complete any or all the on track portion requirements, you will need to complete this before your a licensed racer even if you were given your race license. This includes participation in the New Rider race, reasons for not completing the on track portion may have been a mechanical breakdown, etc. If you are one of these New Riders then you need to report to the classroom at 8:30 am Friday, July 5th.

July New Riders Instructors please report to the track side classroom at 9am for student assignment.

It is important that all involved, both students and instructors, be on time so we can stay on schedule. On behalf of Kurt and myself, Thank you.

Contingency FAQ

Posted: July 6, 2014 by Contingency in Announcements

Process and Procedures

One form per bike

Make sure you fill out one CRA form for each motorcycle you are registering for contingency since each bike mist be checked individually.

Print Legibly

Or, better yet, fill out the online fillable PDF’s available on the CRA website, print and bring to the track.  If we cannot read your form we cannot process your claim.  Our suggestion is to download the form, fill out the basics that do not change (racer info, etc) and print out copies for each race weekend.  Then bring one copy to each weekend and fill out the remainder at the track (vendors, dates, etc).

Deadline

You MUST have your contingency verified and singed off by Tech BEFORE the National Anthem, no exceptions.  Please do not do this last minute, as Tech may have other duties to attend to and may not have time to verify your contingency forms in time.  The responsibility of getting these forms in on time is on the rider, not Tech or Contingency.

Mark the correct registration dates

You MUST select correct Days option: Sat, Sun or both.  Tech will be checking this, but this is the responsibility of the rider to make sure this is correctly marked.  If you are registering after Saturday National Anthem you must select Sun only or Tech/Contingency will reject the forms.

How Contingency processes the paperwork

Every race weekend we collect the paperwork on both Saturday and Sunday after the National Anthem.  We verify that all entries submitted after Saturday National Anthem are marked Sun only.  All of this paperwork is gathered up and brought home for processing.

Timing and Scoring provide Contingency .csv extracts from each race listing the place holders and number of racers.  This data is run through some custom software which produces the raw spreadsheet separated by Expert and Novice.  We also correct tire vendor sponsors if incorrect from the T&S data.  Note that at this time we have been experiencing some issues with this data, but believe we have resolved the issue.  This has resulted in May and June data being delayed in processing due to the extra work to verify from MyLaps data.

Once we have the spreadsheet we then go through each contingency filing to see if the racer placed high enough in any qualifying race.  For each qualifying race we highlight the rider’s name on the spreadsheet and fill out the appropriate entries on the tire vendor paperwork to prepare for submittal.  Once we have gone through all races and collected all paperwork, we submit the proposed payout to all riders on the CRA website and MNSBR for verification.    Any discrepancies reported are checked against MyLaps and corrected if needed before submittal.  We allow up to 1 week for responses before submitting the paperwork to the vendors, based on various factors.

End of year programs (Pit Bull, etc) are processed via end of year standings in each Division and Class.

Future Direction

We are looking to improve the CRA Contingency offerings.  If you have any suggestions or contacts with vendors please get them in touch with us at Contingency@CRA-MN.com

The CRA Board of Directors would like to thank all of the individuals that submitted their thoughts and opinions regarding the Superbike Rules.  Upon reviewing the feedback, the Board has concluded that no immediate actions are warranted at this time.

2014 Framstad

Posted: July 1, 2014 by Vice President in Announcements, Events, Racers

While the 2014 Framstad was canceled due to weather, the event has been rescheduled to be run on September weekend.

Grids will be based off the GP sprints run on Saturday, September 20.  The race will then be run on the morning of Sunday, September 21.  This will reduce the amount of practice time originally scheduled on Sunday morning.  Schedules will be updated shortly.

Rules Input Requested

Posted: June 23, 2014 by Vice President in Announcements, Racers

The CRA has recently been challenged with a situation regarding Superbike rules. As you may imagine it is impossible to develop rules that cover all potential scenarios. A liberal interpretation of our rules has resulted in a situation whereby a motorcycle that typically qualifies for a higher class has been de-stroked (effectively reducing its displacement) to meet the CC requirements of a lower class. Some feel this has created an unfair advantage, as a motorcycle like this was not originally designed or homologated for the class it is currently competing in.

The CRA board of directors is seeking comments and input regarding the general memberships’ opinion on this situation. Please direct your input to racerliaison@cra-mn.com. These comments will be confidential. Comments and responses to this post on the MNSBR forum will be deleted. Both are in an effort to provide everyone with input the ability to express it freely. The CRA Board of Directors would also welcome your input in person at our next Membership Meeting, Tuesday July 1, at 6:30PM, at the Richfield VFW, 6715 Lake Shore Dr S, Richfield.

Please offer your input within the next week. Thank you.

Putting the preliminary contingency spreadsheet up for comments/corrections.  The sheet has been checked for Dunlop and Bridgestone, but has not yet been cross-checked, so be kind in your comments.

The payout for the Leatt sponsorship is still being confirmed, once it is we will add Leatt payouts to this same spreadsheet.
