2012 Contingency Update: Silkolene and EBC are back!

Posted: October 6, 2012 by Contingency in Contingency

(we hope!)  We have made contact with the Silkolene representative, and have a new contact for the EBC rep.  Initial information is that Silkolene will pay out all 2012 contingency money that was won and properly teched for, and we have hope that EBC will do the same.

Contingency Chiefs will be going through the paperwork from 2012 to collect info on racers that submitted for these two vendors.  However, so that we don’t miss anyone that did submit, please send an email to contingency@cra-mn.com noting the weekends you submitted for.  This will give us a cross reference to ensure we don’t miss anyone in the paperwork shuffle.

Again, this is nothing definite yet, but it appears that we can get you paid for 2012 after all.

Fletcher Wraps Up 2012 CRA Championship

Posted: September 19, 2012 by Vice President in Announcements

North Dakota’s Shane Fletcher brought home the 2012 Central Roadracing Association overall championship during the final event of the season on September 14-16, held on Brainerd International Raceway’s Donnybrooke Course. Fletcher continued his strong performances in the Middleweight, Heavyweight and Unlimited classes on his Yamaha R6 and ended the season with a healthy points cushion over rising star Kaleb DeKeyrel.

Mason DeKeyrel made CRA history as the youngest winner of the prestigious Framstad Cup. On Friday, September 14, twelve-year-old DeKeyrel dominated the tortoise vs. hare style race on his Moriwaki MD250H, taking the victory over GSX-R600 mounted Brandon Soine and Shane Keaveny’s CBR1000RR. Young DeKeyrel, who turned thirteen the day after his Framstad Cup victory, is clearly following in his brother’s footsteps and you can expect to continue hearing more about both DeKeyrels in the future.

While Fletcher ran at the front of the Middleweight and Heavyweight races with the likes of DeKeyrel, Scott Stall and Robert Pretts, some very intense battles occurred behind them as Brian Hebeisen, Kris Skellenger, Jonathan Shore and Jake Northrup put in some fantastic races. Their aggressive, yet clean, racing coupled with multiple last-lap passes resulted in some of the best racing of the weekend.

The Novice championship was wrapped up by Brandon Soine, who continued his solid run of podium finishes as he battled with Novice Middleweight and Heavyweight runners Jordan Imrie and William Vossberg.

Chris Henkel ended his solid rookie season with a narrow victory over Brian Janssen in Lightweight Supersport – Novice while Chris Knauf and Christian Alvarado also took victories in Lightweight Novice Superbike and Grand Prix, respectively.

The traditional season-ender for the CRA is the 5-Hour endurance race and the 2012 edition was a great ending to an overall fantastic CRA season. Suzuki GSX-R1000 mounted Team 250 Ninja (Christian Schmidt, Shane Keaveny and Aaron Anderson) took home the GP4 and overall honors and the record for most number of laps completed in the 5-hour with 167. Team Worldwide (John Anderson, Kaleb DeKeyrel and Pat Stewart) won the GP3 class while bringing home second overall on their Yamaha R6 and third overall went to Flashbang (Jesse Nelson, Erik Devaan and Chase Sellers) as they also picked up second in GP3 on their Yamaha R6. Every team that competed deserves an honorable mention as there were no crashes and every team finished the grueling race.

The CRA would like to thank all of the hard-working volunteer staff and the racers for contributing to another fantastic season. We’ll see you in 2013!
