May Pre-Registration

Posted: April 9, 2011 by Race Registration in Announcements, Race Registration, Racers

It’s almost here!!! Can you believe it!?!?!  May pre-reg is opening on April 16 at 8am!  Listed below are a few helpful hints and reminders about the pre-reg process.

1) The link for pre-reg is now found under the “Racers” section.  If you scroll about half-way down the page, you will see a huge green link.

2) Remember, you have to have paid your membership/license fee to pre-reg.  Also, you can not be a new rider.  New riders have to register their first weekend at the track.

3) Wouldn’t hurt to review the pre-reg directions!  You can find them on the “Downloads” page.

4) Please, dear God, REMEMBER YOUR MULTI-SPRINT DISCOUNTS!!!  Also, if you were awarded free sprint coupons at the banquet last year, there is a code for those as well.  You can NOT count your freebies toward your multi-sprint discounts.  The coupon code for the freebies is “1FREESPRINT”, “2FREESPRINTS” etc based on the # of coupons you have.  And don’t try to fool us, we know who got em.  For those using the free sprint coupons, you will need to present them to Anna and me at Race Reg, so bring them to the track with you.  To the left is what your order should look like with multi-sprint and free sprint coupons.  Remember, don’t count your Trophy Dash as a sprint!

Please feel free to contact Anna or me at any time with questions!  We are excited to see you all in 27 days!!!

The Central Roadracing Association is pleased to announce the debut of their completely redesigned website. The CRA Board of Directors, along with Brian Mattson (Chief of IT), worked very closely with Chelsea Klevesahl of  Chelsea’s Sundry Arts to significantly update their internet presence. In essence, the project turned into a complete rebranding of the CRA’s web and print image that also resulted in new layouts for the season program and monthly newsletter.

The website project alone is the culmination of hundreds of hours of effort by the all-volunteer team and has been in the works for the past two months. The new website contains some of the following features:

·         – Race pre-registration through the link found on the “Racers” page.

·         – Separate pages with information that is pertinent to racers, volunteers and spectators – all linked from the page heading.

·         – A blog format with the ability to submit comments on blog posts, however our strong ties with MNSBR.com will see us continue using their forum as a means of communication in addition to the CRA website.

·         – Most of the content found on our previous website has been updated, including documents and reference material.  Any document you need can be easily found on the “downloads” page.

·         – A MomentumPhoto.net (the CRA’s Official Photographer) section which will be updated frequently throughout the year.

Please peruse the new site and give us your feedback via webmaster@cra-mn.com.  This site is a work in progress and we want to know everything we can do to improve it even more!  We hope you are as excited as we are about the CRA’s new web home!

The CRA would like to congratulate the Top 10 Experts and Novices of the 2010 season. 2010 featured phenomenal racing in the expert and novice ranks and with a very talented group of novice riders bumping to the expert grid, 2011 is expected to feature just as many hard-fought battles throughout the field.

Robert Pretts took home the #1 plate with a very consistent run of wins and podium finishes through the entire season. Aaron Anderson and a resurgent Jesse Nelson definitely earned their year-end positions by taking the fight to the 1000cc grid on their very capable Yamaha R6’s. Tony Kasper absolutely dominated the races he entered and was able to set new 600cc track records on the Brainerd Donnybrooke Course as well as the Brainered Competition Course. Congratulations to the entire top-10 expert points finishers on a fantastic season!

Top-10 Experts:
1) Robert Pretts
2) Aaron Anderson
3) Jesse Nelson
4) Tony Kasper
5) Christian Schmidt
6) Eric Purves
7) Geoffrey Egerman
8 ) Brad Zajic
9) Shane Keaveny
10) Brian Hebeisen

The Novice Middleweight & Heavyweight races were some of the most hotly contested in recent memory. Novice #1 winner Jonathan Shore, Chase Sellers, Anthony Myhre, Kris Skellenger and Jamie Boyle all took wins throughout the season in races featuring bar-to-bar racing, and at times paint-trading, creating very close championship battles for each class. Shore took the overall Novice honors by racing as many races as he could (at one point he ran 11 races on one day!) and a special mention goes out to Young Gun Cole Speer for dominating the Lightweight Novice grid from his first-ever race weekend in June throughout the end of the season. Well done to you all!

Top-10 Novice:
1) Jonathan Shore
2) Chase Sellers
3) Cole Speer
4) Eric Fox
5) Anthony Myhre
6) Kenneth Earl
7) Chris Harrison
8) Derek Gilbertson
9) Drew See
10) Kris Skellenger

The Central Roadracing Association holds five race weekends a year at the Brainerd International Speedway in Brainerd, Minnesota. If you have any questions regarding racing with the CRA, please contact Kris Skellenger at racerliaison@cra-mn.com.

Volunteer Membership 2011

Posted: February 25, 2011 by Membership in Announcements, Membership, Volunteers

In recognition of all the hard work our volunteers put into the club, we are announcing a new programs put into place for our volunteer staff. The change is based on the belief that our workers deserve membership to the club. Here is how it works, anyone who works one full weekend, or the equivalent of (three days), will be given a membership form. After that form is received and put on file you will be a member in 2011. Membership forms will be distributed on Sundays at the worker meetings. If one works the entire weekend in May, you will already have earned your membership. If you work part of the weekend, we will keep track of it so that you may earn your membership on a subsequent weekend. However, if it happens to be a year you cannot work for whatever reason, but still wish to support the club and receive your newsletter, you can still contact Membership Director Anna Hanson (membership@cra-mn.com). We will then send you a form and you can still join for the great value of $10 for volunteers. If you have any questions feel free to email me at workerliaison@cra-mn.com. As always, we wish to thank our volunteers for the support, commitment and fun they bring to our club. We would not exist without you.
